| Description: |
At the Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Reserve there are several vernal pools, a Visitor's Center, and 18 trails to explore. (Check out their informative websites listed above!) There is a $2 per person dayuse fee and no pets are allowed in the Reserve. For those carpooling from San Diego, we'll meet at the Visitor's Center around 10:45-11:00 a.m. to check it out before hiking. To get there from San Diego, take 163 north (It turns into I-15.) towards Escondido. Continue north on I-15 to Temecula. Continue further north on I-15, about 10 miles past the Highway 79 turnoff, 7 miles past the 2nd 79 turnoff (Winchester Road), and 4 1/2 miles nw of the 215 split. Take the Clinton Keith exit from I-15 (in the Wildomar area between Lake Elsinore and Murrieta.) Go 4.1 miles southwest on Clinton Keith Rd. to the Visitor's Center (Operations Center) on the east side of Clinton Keith Rd. Check out our Maps section for more directions on how to get there.
