Area D-2,Trip 1, pp. 239-241 3 mile roundtrip hike, with an elevation gain/loss of 450', takes about 1 1/2 hrs to hike. First, we'll meet at the Visitor's Center at about 11 am, and tour the facility. While there, pick up a parking permit (~$5) to park at the trail head. After checking out the Visitor's Center, drive over to the trailhead parking area about 1-2 miles away. We'll meet there around noon to start the hike. Bring a bathing suit if you'ed like to wade into the water when we get to our destination. (There's no guarantee how much water, if any, will be there. However, there usually are some families also hiking in the area, so going nude isn't an option for this hike.) Don't forget sunscreen and plenty of water. It could get into the 90's out there.
